Damn Couplers.
Today I thought I’d finally be able to make a thing on my Kikori.
No such luck.
However, I now know where a lot of my error has come from: the couplers.
I’ve been using these ridged couplers to connect the X and Y motors to drive shafts, and up ’till now, they’ve seemed to be working fine. However, they’re made of plastic, and when the get warm (which happens when they’re connected to motors that usually run around 150ºF) they start to slip. I’ll look at other types of couplers to use, but at this point it means I won’t be able to make anything before I leave for Oakland for three weeks.
I’m going to Oakland to see my father and step-mother. It’s been years since I’ve been there and really had some quality time with them. It’ll also be a great time to do some research and long-range planning for Sindrian Arts. I’m really looking forward to it.
